Private Events

Old Ebbitt Grill offers a variety of private dining options for your next business or social event. Our event manager and our executive chef will be at your service to create a custom-designed menu for your special event with the freshest seasonal fare.

Using fresh ingredients and timeless recipes, Old Ebbitt Grill has become a private event favorite in the Washington area.

We buy our produce from local farms, and spring through fall we use only fresh, high-quality local fruits and vegetables. We source much of our meat, poultry and seafood direct from its native region.

    Oyster Bar

    Around the corner from our main bar and adorned with gas lamps, the Oyster Bar’s windows look out to the Atrium on one end and our famed Raw Bar on the other. Guests can enjoy cocktails and a variety of oysters shucked at the bar, as well as passed hors d’oeuvres and displayed food stations.

    • Maximum of 60 guests for standing receptions and a 2 hour minimum
    • Food and beverage minimum: $2,500++ (each additional hour is $1,250++ minimum)
    • $100 room rental fee

    Parties in the Oyster Bar must start at or before 5 pm.

    Atrium

    The Atrium offers versatility for every occasion with banquette seating, bronze sculptures beneath mahogany trellises, marble floors and palm trees surrounding an ornate fountain. This room adds contemporary elegance to any affair, large or small.

    Room Capacity and Fees

    • Entire Atrium may be rented for parties from 250-400 seated guests and up to 700 standing guests
    • Food and beverage minimum: daytime $10,000++, evening $20,000++
    • $1,000 room rental fee with deposit of $5,000 daytime and $10,000 evening
    • Available at 7 pm Monday - Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday
    • Audio-visual equipment and amplified sound are permitted after 8 pm Monday - Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday
    • Food and beverage minimum: $1,000++ (each additional hour is a $500++ minimum)

    The entire Atrium must be reserved when using amplified sound and projection equipment.

    Rooftop Terrace

    The Rooftop Terrace, overlooking the Washington Monument, White House and National Mall, may be available for cocktail receptions, weather permitting.

    • Partial Atrium (semi-private) serves as weather backup location
    • ​Maximum of 250 guests for standing receptions
    • $1,000 room rental fee 
    • Food and beverage minimum charge of $5,000++
    • Available at 6 pm or later Monday – Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday (ending by 10 pm)
    • Audio-visual equipment and amplified sound are not permitted at any time
    • Security guard fee of $220 and private entrance fee of $220

    Partial Atrium (semi-private)

    Located to the rear of the restaurant, the partial Atrium offers soaring glass ceilings and a marble fountain. Partition screens and planters create a designated space for your event.

    • Available after 6 pm Monday - Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday

Tax and Service Charge

A 20% service charge will be added to all food and beverage charges. District of Columbia tax of 10% will be added to food and beverage charges, as well as rental fees and service charges.

Valet Parking

We offer valet parking after 6pm Monday – Saturday and all day starting at 8:30 am on Sundays. Valet currently costs $12 per car. For an additional fee, parking services can be arranged at other times.

Cutting and Corkage Fees

Outside food and beverages are not permitted with the exception of limited dessert items and wine. For dessert, the cutting fee is $3 per guest, and for wine, the corkage fee is $25 per bottle.

Guarantee

To reserve the space, we will need an estimated guest count. The final guaranteed guest count must be given 2 business days prior to the event. After that point, the final guaranteed guest count may not be decreased.

Deposit, Payment and Cancellation Policies

An initial deposit (non-transferable/nonrefundable) of 50% of the food and beverage minimum is required to reserve the event space. Payment is due at the end of each event; billing is not available. All cancellations must be made in writing. Event cancellations by 12 noon one (1) business week prior to event date will be subject to 50% of estimated cost or $30 per person (whichever amount is greater). Event cancellations within two (2) business days by 12 noon are subject to 100% of estimated contract.  Rooftop Terrace and Full Atrium event cancellations within two (2) calendar months are subject to 50% of estimated bill or $75 per person (whichever amount is  greater).  Cancellations within one (1) calendar month are subject to 100% of estimated bill, or $75 per person (whichever amount is greater).
